Resource Sharing

The Resource Sharing button opens a screen to add, edit or view the organization levels that can share the indicated resource. This feature is used to limit access to resources that can only be used in the same building or vicinity. For example, if a television and DVD player are required for a course, you would want to be sure they are available in the same building as the classroom.

Note  

This button is only enabled if the Shared field is set to Yes on the General screen.

Depending on the authorization role of the user, the following actions may be available:

Adding a Shared Resource Organization Unit

To add an Organization Unit location to a shared resource, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the card arrow to the right of a structure level to open the record and display the levels beneath it.

  2. Check the selection box on the organization level to indicate the resource can be used there.

  3. When a selection box is checked at a structure level, all levels below it are automatically checked. The check marks can be added or removed at any level.

  4. Select the Save button in the left pane to save the selections.

Deleting a Shared Resource Organization Unit

To delete an Organization Unit to a shared resource, complete the following steps:

  1. Click the card arrow to the right of a structure level to display the levels beneath it.

  2. Click the selection box to the left of the organization level to remove the check mark in the box.

  3. When a selection box is unchecked at a structure level, all levels below it are automatically unchecked. The check marks can be added or removed at any level.

  4. Select the Save button in the left pane to save the selections.
