Lunch Attestation Introduction
The Lunch Attestation feature enables a prompt that employees answer when clocking, stating whether they took complete lunch breaks during their shifts. It is designed to help organizations that want to or are required to monitor lunch breaks to ensure that employees are receiving their full, uninterrupted breaks.
This feature is supported when adding or editing clockings in the portal on the Quick Badge, TCS, Monthly View, and ActiveRoster screens, and when using TimeCall, the symplr Workforce app, and the following devices:
-
Series 5000 Time Clocks
-
EIS Series 1100/1200 devices
-
TA-500 devices
Note
For devices, you can override some of the settings explained in this guide. For example, once you enable the Lunch Attestation feature, you can disable it on certain devices. For more information, see the Device Update Manager User Guide located on the Client Connections website.
Lunch Attestation process overview
After the initial setup, the general process consists of the following actions:
-
Add a clocking
-
Employee: The employee clocks (with a device, Quick Badge, the symplr Workforce app, or TimeCall) or enters a clocking request
Tip
If you had another clocking within the last 24 hours, the screen shows the clocking's time with a timer that continuously updates to show the elapsed time since the last clocking. Seeing your last clocking time can be helpful, for example, to know when you clocked out for lunch so that you can ensure you are clocking back in at an appropriate time. This is important for Lunch Attestation so that you can attest to taking a full, uninterrupted meal break.
-
Supervisor: A supervisor adds or edits a clocking on the TCS, Monthly View, or ActiveRoster screen
-
-
A prompt appears asking whether this clocking is the final out clocking (punch) for the shift.
-
If so, a second prompt asks whether a full lunch break was taken.
-
-
The employee answers the prompts.
-
Depending on how you set up Lunch Attestation, answers may or may not be required. If answers are required but not provided, the clocking cannot be completed.
-
-
The clocking completes and pay is processed based on the employee's response to the prompts.
-
Supervisors and managers monitor employee responses by using LaborViews and reports.
If an employee answers:
-
No to the lunch prompt (no lunch break was taken), any automatic lunch deductions are not taken from the shift.
-
Yes to the lunch prompt (lunch break was taken), any automatic lunch deductions are taken from the shift.
-
If answers are not required and the employee does not answer the prompts, you can have Time and Attendance create an exception message.
Answers to the prompts are saved so that supervisors can take appropriate actions and run reports.
