Badge Management
The Badge Management button opens a screen to track the employee badge numbers, including effective/expiration dates, reason the badge was issued and technology classification.
-
Multiple Badge Numbers may be active for an employee at one time for one of the following reasons:
-
Different badge technologies, such as magnetic, iClass, proximity, or bar code.
-
Working at different sites for a multiple facility organization.
-
-
Multiple badges may be effective within the same technology, if indicator settings allow. For example: Employee X has a mag stripe badge 0000000001 that is effective 1/1/2005 to 12/31/2005. The same employee also has another mag stripe badge 0000000002 that is effective 7/1/2005 to 7/1/2006. From the dates, 7/1/2005 to 12/31/2005, both mag stripe badges are effective.
-
Employees may have a period of time where there are no effective badges. For example: Employee X has a mag stripe badge 0000000001 that is effective 1/1/2005 to 12/31/2005. The same employee also has another mag stripe badge 0000000002 that is effective 2/1/2006 to 7/1/2006. From the dates, 1/1/2006 to 1/31/2006, the employee has no effective badge.
-
A single badge may have multiple classifications and numbers. For example: a single badge may be used with a proximity reader and have a proximity number of 0000000115, and also be used with a mag stripe reader and have a mag stripe number of 0000000287.

The following topics are available in this chapter |
Badge Number
The identification number of the employee badge.
Note
If the number entered is less than 10 digits in length, the system automatically adds leading zeros to make the number 10 digits. For example, if the number 4598 is entered, the system converts this to 0000004598.
Classification
Indicates the type of employee badge: iClass, Proximity, BarCode, or MagStripe (magnetic stripe).
Effective Date
The date that this badge should become effective for the employee to gain access and submit transactions.
Expiration Date
The date that this badge is not longer in effect (if applicable), such as when the employee is terminated or transferred. If this badge has no set expiration date, this field should be left blank.
Note
Indicator and parameter settings determine whether the badge is automatically expired when a new badge is created, and whether there is a grace period where the old badge is still effective after the expiration date. There is no grace period on SecurAll badges.
Why Issued
Gives the reason this badge was created.
