Metric Threshold
The Metric Threshold screen is used with the System Dashboard screen to determine the display of metric values and warning messages. Depending on the metric definition, either three or four levels of usage may be used. For metric definitions used in tracking diagnostic messages a fourth level is used. For each level, enter the highest value to be included in the level.
Level 1 |
Monitoring components with usage at or below the Level 1 threshold value. |
Level 2 |
Monitoring components with usage greater than the Level 1 threshold value but less than or equal to Level 2. |
Level 3 |
Monitoring components with usage greater than the Level 2 threshold value. If a fourth level is used, monitoring components with usage greater than Level 2 but less than or equal to Level 3. When only three levels are used the Level 3 threshold serves as an approximate maximum*. |
Level 4 |
When a fourth level is used, monitoring components with usage greater than the Level 3 threshold value. When used, the Level 4 threshold serves as an approximate maximum*. |
*The value of the highest threshold level is used as an approximate maximum for internal calculations. The monitoring component will display the actual usage value, while the approximate maximum is used to arrange other parts of the component. This value is required because a finite maximum value is needed for the calculations.
Description
The label describing this metric threshold record.
Group Description
The label describing the grouping of metric threshold functions, such as Posting, Calculations, or Replication.
Level
The number indicating the 1, 2, 3 or 4th tier of the values. The levels determine when warnings appear on the System Dashboard.
Value
Enter the highest numeric value that should be included in this threshold level.
