Stations
The Stations screen is where records can be configured as requirements to work a specific profile assignment. Stations are used to differentiate between employees with the same job class/position who are qualified for a work assignment from those who are not. Only employees with matching station records in their employee record are qualified to be scheduled.
Example
An example of a station qualification could be the Charge station, assigned to the Charge Nurse profile to differentiate between RN employees who are qualified to work as a charge nurse from those who are not. Only RN employees with the station of Charge would be scheduled to work as a Charge Nurse.
Another example of a station qualification could be the Baker or Breakfast Cook stations in Nutrition Services. Only employees with these station qualifications would be scheduled to work these profiles.
Note
Stations are assigned to employees through

Active: Determines whether the station is available as a selection on various screens where stations are used.
This setting can be toggled as needed. For example, when setting up a new station, you can keep it hidden from users until you are ready. Or you may have outdated or invalid stations that were used only in certain situations and are no longer needed. Inactivating old stations keeps the list of stations seen by employees current and uncluttered.
When set to No (inactive), users cannot see or select the station from:
-
Employee screen > Labor Distributions > Stations button
-
Configuration > Labor Distribution > Profile > Stations button
However, inactive stations are still available from:
-
Configuration > Station screen (searching with the Active field either blank or set to No)
-
Reports with any station parameters
-
Schedule screen > Set Schedule for Bidding > Overrides card > Station button
Note
If a station is set to inactive and you do not want the system to validate for the station, the inactive station needs to be removed from the Profile it is assigned to (which makes it required).
